Highschool friend, Gary Poe (and WebCrafts client - WindowsOnOurWaters.org) and I had the opportunity to meet face to face after 38 years (!) and have a wonderful few days of reminiscing about the "good old days" and making some new friends. When Gary came east from California to attend a seminar in Alexandria, VA, I travelled from Pennsylvania for the reunion.
During the week we reunited with another old highschool friend, saw the wonderful show, "Best Little Whorehouse in Texas" with Ann-Margaret and Gary Sandy, did some sightseeing in Washington and Virginia and had a couple of unscheduled adventures... including getting lost more than once in Washington DC and Virginia! Enjoy the trip Laura

We did a bit of sightseeing around the harbor and a quick tour through the incredible Baltimore Aquarium...
Gary at Baltimore Aquarium
The harbor was filled with paddle boats
Wonderful historic power plant building
|After our short tour of the aquarium we hooked up with old highschool friend, Sam Wornom and his fiancee, Pam, for a wonderful dinner in an outdoor restaurant across the water from the aquarium.

The last time we saw each other was 1963 at Fitch High School in Groton, CT

Full of good food and conversation...
It was an especially poignant moment when we found three highschool classmates on the Viet Nam Veterans Memorial Wall. The drizzling rain matched our mood.
Our reflections in The Wall as we searched for our friends...
We found Johnie...
...and Drew, although the picture with Drew's name didn't come out
Read Gary's story The Other Side of the Hill.
The Viet Nam Women's Memorial... the detail is painfully exquisite.
You're tall, Gary...
but you can't quite
match up to this!
We also visited the National Aquarium while we were in D.C. -- and managed to forget where we parked the car! My feet hurt so bad (and we still had the show to attend that night) that I finally talked Gary into a cab ride to go about 6 blocks...
The Big Event!|
From 10th row center seats we watched, enthralled... after the show we spent time with Gary's old friend and acting school buddy (and co-star of the show), Gary Sandy Gary is a veteran of the stage, but best remembered for his role as Andy Travis on WKRP in Cincinnati. We were also privileged to meet Ann-Margaret and several of her friends in her dressing room following the show. She was charming and sweet and so welcoming. Definitely a night for the scrapbook.
Wonderful!! If you get a chance, don't miss seeing this show.

Culpeper and Manassas, VA
On the last day of the trip we traveled to
Emerald Hill Grade School in Culpeper, VA,
to see the Virginia Marine Science Museum's
"Ocean in Motion" program. This project is
similar to WindowsOnOurWaters.org's
MobileOcean it was a treat to watch
the school's 2nd graders learn about
pollution and the environment.
On the way back, we stopped for a tour
of the historic Manassas Battlefield.
